Middle/Senior Data Engineer

Currently, we are developing a next-generation IoT platform for large-scale monitoring and analytics. Our mission is to transform incoming device data into actionable insights, leveraging cloud-based data platforms, advanced analytics, and machine learning to enable predictive and preventive applications in critical infrastructure domains.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role based in Athens (Attica), or Patras (Achaia) for a Middle/Senior Data Engineer. We are seeking a Data Engineer with a solid engineering background and a blend of data architecture skills to help design, implement, and scale our platform. You will work across data pipelines, BI, and ML domains, shaping solutions that ensure data quality, reliability, and insight generation.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and storing IoT telemetry at scale.

  • Contribute to data architecture, modeling, and governance practices to ensure high-quality and secure data flows.
  • Implement data solutions leveraging Azure Data Services (e.g., Data Lake, Synapse, Cosmos DB, SQL Database, Event Hub, Kusto/ADX, OneLake, Fabric) or equivalent technologies.
  • Support analytics and BI teams with curated data sets for Power BI dashboards and reporting.
  • Collaborate with ML engineers to deploy and scale machine learning pipelines (Azure ML or equivalent).
  • Apply ML-based techniques to improve data quality, event detection, alarm validation, and predictive maintenance.
  • Evaluate emerging data technologies, ensuring that our platform remains robust, efficient, and future-ready.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (firmware, cloud, analytics) to translate business requirements into data solutions.

Must have Qualifications

  • Be legally authorized to work in Greece
  • Live in commutable distance to Athens (Attica), or Patras (Achaia)
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering or electrical engineering
  • Professional hands-on experience IoT data streams and time-series databases with exposure to data architecture, for building modern cloud-based data hubs, pipelines and tools.
  • Professional experience with Azure cloud applications and services.
  • Professional experience with cloud-based machine learning tools and frameworks

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and big data architecture.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or Scala, with experience in distributed data processing (e.g., Spark, Flink, Databricks).
  • Professional experience with NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB, DynamoDB, MongoDB).
  • Professional experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Professional experience with automated testing and benchmarking tools and frameworks
  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance practices.
  • Strong communication skills to present solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.

Nice to Have

  • Azure Data Engineer Associate Certification or equivalent.
